Workshop

Azure Synapse Analytics is Microsoft flagship product for analytics in Azure. In this workshop you will get to know the basics of Synapse, from exploring the data lake with direct SQL queries, creating integration solution, to building SQL layer over the data lake and serving the data for reporting purposes. Analytics and data science are becoming integral part of companies, shaping their future and how they do their job, so knowing how to use Synapse gives you a head start for an important and well paid position at one of these companies. Additionally, workshop is held by to ex-FON students, that today work at Microsoft Development Center in Serbia, and are ready to share their experience with all interested attendees.

Veljko Vasic
Senior Program Manager, Microsoft Serbia

Veljko is a Senior Program Manager at Microsoft. After completing his studies at Faculty of Organizational Sciences, he got a job at the Microsoft Development Center Serbia as a programmer. Two years later, he switched to a data science role, which gave him the opportunity to analyze large amounts of data and extract useful information from them. After two years in a data science role, Veljko became a program manager for databases. In that position, Veljko has worked on various projects such as automatic tuning for Azure SQL Database, and is currently working on a Microsoft analytics product called Synapse.

Ivan Vujic
Senior Program Manager, Microsoft Serbia

Ivan is a Senior Program Manager at Microsoft. After completing his studies at Faculty of Organizational Sciences, he got a job at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Fund for Young Talents) as an IT associate. Two years later, he joined Microsoft as Program Manager where he worked with Microsoft Research Cambridge on the FP7 project (SCAPE). A little less than two years later, he started working in the Office team, where he worked on a number of Office tools, of which he singles out:
